Dental insurance with Dansk Tandforsikring via the Danish Agriculture & Food Council

Why dental insurance?

Teeth are the only part of the body that public healthcare does not cover. If the teeth are damaged and expensive treatment is required, not everyone can afford to do something about it. That is where your dental insurance comes in. In collaboration with Dansk Tandforsikring, the Danish Agriculture & Food Council has made it possible for you and your colleagues to get the best treatment right away without straining your personal finances.

What does the insurance cover?

The insurance is an 80% scheme, which means that you will be reimbursed up to 80% of the dental bill. When we say up to 80%, it is because there might be a difference between the dentist’s rate and the rate we reimburse. Our reimbursement rates can be found on our website under ‘practical info’. Treatments such as fillings, x-rays, periodontitis and the like are covered immediately. In the case of prosthetics, such as dental crowns, dental bridges and implants, the damage must be assessed by our dentists, and in this connection we obtain medical records and X-rays from the dentist.

According to the applicable insurance conditions, the insurance covers the following:

  • Examination and dental cleaning – if selected
  • Plastic fillings
  • X-ray
  • Anaesthesia
  • Dental extraction
  • Surgical treatments
  • Root canal treatment
  • Periodontitis
  • Prosthetics such as dental crowns, dental bridges and implants *
  • Night guard
  • Dental accident
  • Chewing injuries

The insurance does not cover:

  • Cosmetic dental treatments and orthodontic treatments
  • Missing teeth and existing implants

*Some restrictions apply to prosthetic treatments such as dental crowns, dental bridges and implants. Teeth that have previously undergone root canal treatment without a dental crown, as well as teeth with large fillings or cracks will be covered for all regular treatments, but not for prosthetics. Prosthetics that have been diagnosed, recommended, planned or is in progress prior to the time of taking out the insurance are not covered.

Who can be insured?

Everyone who is a member of Danish Agriculture & Food Council can buy dental insurance. Spouses and children can also be enrolled, however, children must be between 17-25 years old at the time of enrolment. No medical information is required in connection with the purchase

The only requirements for the insurance are the following:

  • The insurance is a mandatory scheme and all employees must therefore be enrolled when establishing a company scheme
  • A minimum of 3 people is required to establish a dental insurance scheme

Once the company scheme is established, all enrolled employees are offered the opportunity to take out dental insurance for their spouse and children who are between 17-25 years old at the time of enrolment. If you have a farm with no employees, you can instead enrol your spouse and children in the company scheme so that you fulfil the criteria.
